Children’s Library

The Newbern City Library emphasizes the importance of early literacy practices (Talk, Sing, Read, Write and Play) as keys to developing language and reading skills.  The Newbern City Library incorporates these activities in an interactive and fun environment.  Have fun and learn at the same time!

Educator Resources

Looking to bring a little something extra to the children within your care?  Whether it’s for a daycare, a Boy Scouts or Girl Scouts of America group, homeschooling, or additional classroom fundamentals, we’d love to help you help Homeschool Resources. The Newbern City Library has a large number of materials on the topic of homeschooling, from selecting a curriculum to teaching cursive handwriting.

The library is host to various craft and painting classes, puppet making, creative projects, book related crafts, and much more.

Teens & Tweens

Tweens & Teens are encouraged to visit the Newbern City Library! We have teen locations with various seating, technologies, and materials. We also have age-appropriate programming for grades 3 – 12.
